Embarking on a perilous 11-hour journey on foot, Jay phoned a friend to inform her that his phone battery was down to one percent, he was thirsty and had injured his leg on a cactus. His mobile last sent a signal from somewhere in the mountainous region near the village of Masca, which became the focus of the Spanish police's search before it was officially called off last Sunday, reports the Manchester Evening News.
TikTok influencer and keen mountaineer Paul Arnott, who has been actively involved in the search for missing Jay in Tenerife, came across a potentially crucial clue on Monday. The 29 year old, who is working closely with Jay's heartbroken mother Debbie and keeping in constant touch with the family, suggested that a pair of damaged sunglasses found could be a significant piece of evidence.
Warren, Jay's father, had previously voiced his worries about the dangers of the family conducting their own searches in the perilous ravine, highlighting "how dangerous it is". He commented: "These are big mountains, the terrain is dangerous", and also said: "It's tough, it's hard."
