Eight people have been charged in relation to an alleged plot involving multiple freight staff from Brisbane Airport, suspected of stealing electronic devices over nine months.

"Between February and November 2021, the AFP Aviation Crime Targeting Team Brisbane received reports from Australian Border Force that pilfered packages had been found in the Security Restricted Area of the airport," police said.The maximum penalty for the offences is 10 years behind bars. The two men, aged 40 and 41 were arrested in March and charged with theft and dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.The AFP were notified of reports pilfered packages had been found in the airports high security areas.They range in ages from 32-51 and all reside in the south-east Queensland region.The men had allegedly used their employee access to enter restricted areas and steal iPads and phones from freight packages.
