Mr Albanese had a bad start to the campaign by being unable to nominate key economic data in week one and stumbling over Labor’s asylum seeker policy. The poll data shows he still has a big problem with women. Of the 1161 women polled, 31 per cent approve of his performance and 50 per cent disapprove.
Mr Albanese is evenly regarded by men and women in terms of approval, but more women disapprove of his performance than men .Mr Morrison is regarded as trustworthy by just 30 per cent of voters, eclipsing Tony Abbott’s previous record low of 35 per cent in 2015, just before he was deposed as leader.Mr Albanese is trusted by 41 per cent, which is just above the 39 per cent his predecessor Bill Shorten recorded three weeks before the 2019 election.
