Former Liberal foreign affairs minister Julie Bishop says both Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Labor leader Anthony Albanese have failed to inspire voters with a “big-picture vision” for Australia before Saturday’s election.

“There is not the grand visions for Australia we have seen in decades past, and I think that’s why the polls are reflecting a sense of disillusionment,” Bishop told an Australian Petroleum Production“Voters want to be inspired and see what a post-COVID environment looks like and neither party have provided that big-picture vision.”

“As the pre-poll shows, those who have made their minds up are out voting in droves but [there is] still a large amount of undecided. No one wants to risk losing those,” he said.Smith predicted Labor was still likely to win Saturday’s election, but it would be hard for the party to find the seven seats required for majority government.

Smith, who was a key Labor factional player before quitting politics in 2013, said a minority Labor or Coalition government was still a possibility.
