Opposition Leader Peter Dutton says the energy crisis is a result of government failure, not lack of investment during the Coalition’s 10 years in power.

“It was a failure of Chris Bowen in his response and the regulators. If they are saying the companies have gamed this, do you not think the companies were trying to game it when Angus Taylor was the minister in this space? Of course they were, but he was able to do it and keep the lights on. Under our Coalition government, we reduced the price of electricity.”

Dutton defended the Coalition’s record on energy even though it brought on very little new power supply during its term in government.
