The Premier League is scheduled to release the calendar for the 2024/25 season in the morning and the biggest story of the day will be the revelation of the farewell fixture for one of the league’s grandest arenas.

That sentiment was summed up poignantly by Chris Wilder, after his relegated Sheffield United side were the last to attend Goodison last season. Asked by the ECHO what the stadium meant to him, he described it as a “bear pit” and hailed the 'class' of Blues supporters.
Every match will be poignant in an emotional season that will now start with added significance, with a tribute to Kevin Campbell expected to take place at the start of the campaign following the tragic death of the former Blues striker. The 24/25 season will kick-off on Saturday, August 17 and run until Sunday, May 25 - which will be the date of the final league game at Goodison should Everton finish the campaign at home.
