Severe weather warnings for destructive winds in the south-east won’t ease until next week, as the SES responded to hundreds of calls for help on Wednesday.

Destructive winds are set to continue in the country's south-east, with warnings some areas could potentially see"worse" than Wednesday following the SES responding to hundreds of calls for assistance.

Much of Tasmania is currently under a flood watch with a system moving through on Thursday night to increase the wet weather. Victoria’s southern and mountain regions and a large portion of south-eastern NSW are expected to see damaging winds from overnight Thursday and into Friday. NSWs SES South-Eastern Zone acting deputy commander Dylan Whitelaw said the service is “preparing for the worst” ahead of destruction potentially similar to Wednesday.
