NSW Opposition Leader Chris Minns says there were “explosive revelations” from John Barilaro’s chief of staff Mark Connell who “seemingly indicated” the New York trade position was created for the former NSW deputy premier.
Mr Connell claimed Mr Barilaro told him in a conversation he didn’t want to go to London and he is “off to New York”.
“If true it’s a huge revelation – it would indicate that a job was created for John Barilaro and a selection process was effectively rigged,” Mr Minns told Sky News Australia. “And then there’s been a month-long cover-up as to who knew what when and the people of New South Wales haven’t been supplied with any of the information.”
