Prime Minister Scott Morrison has watered down worrying new COVID-19 modelling, saying the scary figures are “extreme case scenarios” that probably won’t happen.
Under the projections, exploding case numbers would lift hospitalisation rates to 4000 per day and up to 10,000 patients would be admitted to intensive care.“The chief medical officer and I just want to assure people that those sort of numbers are not what we are expecting.”Getty Images “We have to live with it, and we have to just stay calm, follow good common sense behaviours and get boosted.”
The rule has caused long queues to form at testing sites across the country, with some holidaymakers forced to wait days to find out they have the all-clear.
