He passed away over the weekend at the Crocosaurus Cove reptile aquarium in Darwin, Australia, at the age of at least 90. Burt was a confirmed bachelor with an independent nature, as he made clear during his time at a crocodile farm. He was more than 5 meters (16 feet) long and was captured in the 1980s in the Reynolds River.
Burt became one of the most well-known crocodiles in the world. In the 1986 movie, Burt is briefly shown lunging out of the water during a scene where a crocodile attacks an American tourist. However, the crocodile shown in more detail during the rescue is actually an American alligator.
