Nigel Farage expressed outrage over King Charles' involvement in attempts to solve an ongoing political issue with the European Union, saying 'he promised us as King he would not get involved in politics.'
On Wednesday evening UK time, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the government had reached a new post-Brexit agreement with the European Union over the treatment of Northern Ireland.
Nigel Farage said Prime Minister Sunak's decision to involve the King in negotiations with the EU"makes my blood boil". Picture: Supplied. “And then, to involve the King. To get the king to meet a woman called Ursula von der Leyen, a failed German politician who is now at the head of the bureaucracy in Brussels. She hasn’t been elected, she can’t be removed. She’s not even a head of state.
Farage said that while the King acts on the advice of ministers – and especially the Prime Minister – just because King Charles is advised to do something doesn’t mean he has to do it.“Had this change already gone through parliament then it might have been fair enough to meet von der Leyen.”
