Father of teen hit by Daniel Andrews family car demands former premier comply with Supreme Court order to produce phone records
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi on Tuesday, Ryan Meuleman’s father, Peter Meuleman, said if Mr Andrews had nothing to hide he would “bring those records forward”. However Mr Andrews is now fighting the subpoena to produce phone records, which the victim’s family believe could shed light on what happened in the moments immediately after the crash occurred.
But Mr Meuleman said the legal case was “far from a fishing expedition”, claiming that “a lot of new evidence” had recently come to light, such as the timing of the triple 0 call. “Yes, he took the children home, and I am aware that they would have been alarmed, but those children were also witnesses to that accident, which is a crucial piece of evidence as well,” he said.
“The injuries that he sustained were terrible, but you do recover from those physical injuries. It's probably been the mental injuries that he has sustained from that – he was incredibly traumatized from that accident.
