The attack unfolded after his daughter called him, fearing she was being followed.
reported that the 21-year-old woman was driving in Cranbourne East about 12.25am when she noticed an unknown man trailing her inside a white station wagon.
Detective Acting Supt Mick Daly said the white station wagon followed the 21-year-old home and the father approached the car and an altercation occurred. The man's daughter immediately called triple zero and neighbours quickly helped the man before he was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.The victim's ex-wife told reporters today the shooting was "unprovoked"."She was saying 'dad, dad, don't go'.
