Emergency services were called to reports a 65-year-old man disappeared while fishing in an area known for crocodiles, after people nearby reported hearing a 'large splash'.

Emergency services were called to Kennedy Bend camping area in the Rinyirru National Park, north-west of Cairns, around 3.30pm Saturday following reports a 65-year-old Laura man had disappeared.A rescue helicopter and water police were deployed to the extremely remote area yesterday but the man was not located.
