Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles said federal Labor will glean whatever lessons it can from the devastating loss that Northern Territory Labor suffered in its election on Saturday. Labor suffered a major defeat in the NT election, with a swing of 12.3 per cent to the Country Liberal Party on a two-party preferred basis, with the ALP gaining just 25.9 per cent of the primary vote. “Obviously, we take every election seriously. We look for whatever lessons we can,” Marles told Sky News.
” Marles said the global pandemic and major conflicts around the world were driving global inflation, from which Australia was not immune. “We’ve obviously been experiencing it over the last couple of years, and it’s really been having a significant impact on Australians, and we’re very mindful of that,” he said. Among Chief Minister elect Lia Finocchiaro’s priorities are reducing high-levels of crime in the Northern Territory.
