Freelance artists are calling on the University of Melbourne to streamline the payment system for independent contractors, saying the current process is a 'distressing … administrative ordeal'.

"I've gone through about five different emails, trying to submit my paperwork. He had been warned the university's payment system was "a little archaic and outdated", but was shocked at just how onerous the process was.
