Firefighters hope a slight drop in temperature will help them get on top of an out-of-control bushfire burning north of Perth after a blistering three-day heatwave that broke December records with temperatures topping 40 degrees Celsius.Firefighters welcomed a cooler change but Perth was still predicted to hit 36C todayAn emergency warning is in place for the fire about 60 kilometres north of Perth, including the suburbs of Wilbinga, Eglinton, Woodridge, and Seatrees and Breakwater estates.
There is a threat to lives and homes for people in these areas and you should act immediately to survive. People in Woodridge are advised to leave in an easterly direction towards Indian Ocean Drive and use Gingin Brook Road to travel towards Gingin as fire is approaching the area.People in Seatrees and Breakwater estates should leave in a westerly direction towards Two Rocks and then leave south along Two Rocks Road and Marmion Avenue.
Almost 13,000 hectares has been burnt since the fire broke out on Wednesday. A petrol station and one home were seriously damaged on Wednesday, but since then no other homes have been impacted by the flames.
