Two firefighters have been treated for heat exhaustion and nearby residents evacuated after a fire broke out at a Western Sydney factory.
More than 150 firefighters are containing the blaze in Western Sydney, with the fireground still active.An industrial fire in Sydney's west has been upgraded to the highest available alarm, with two firefighters currently being treated for heat exhaustion.
Firefighters initially approached the blaze by an internal attack, before shifting to an unstaffed hose line due to the intense conditions.So far, 45 trucks and 155 firefighters, including specialist hazmat officers, have been involved in the fire, with two firefighters being treated for heat exhaustion, one of which is currently being treated in hospital.
"We are constantly repositioning our firelighters to more defensive and safer positions as we work to contain this fire," he said.Firefighters have been unable to get enough water to control the fire, with a specialist water truck and a bulk tanker being brought in to help mitigate the scarcity.
