Domestic flight cancellations and on-time performance worsened in July as the major airlines killed almost 3000 services between them.
Virgin Australia said the results “were not where we want them to be”.
“The July results were also impacted by the challenges experienced during the June, July school holidays, with high volumes of passengers travelling through airports. We also faced a number of significant weather events in Brisbane and Sydney, and high rates of illness among team members.” The airline apologised for the issues, and said it had made several changes that “have seen a significant improvement in August, with two-thirds of flights departing on time so far this month”.
