The footage was so loud residents complained to the police

Video footage has captured the moment that world-famous heavy metal band Metallica was heard in Stapleford, as they took to the stage at Download Festival. The American heavy metal band headlined the first night of the annual rock festival at Donington Park, on the Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire border, as the event celebrates its 20th year.

In video footage captured by a Stapleford resident living more than 11 miles from the festival, rumblings of Metallica's music can be heard. According to residents in the area, the sound could heard in the evening until around 10.30pm - with the sounds fading in and out. A press release published by Meyer Sound on Wednesday explains that the ground-breaking new production comprises a staggering 288 loudspeakers in an attempt by Metallica's creative director Dan Braun to "immerse the entire audience".
