Inventium’s analysis of the top-ranked companies revealed several key differences in how leaders are creating remarkable workplaces for their people.While it’s hard to find an organisation that is not offering staff more flexibility since the pandemic hit, Australasia’s top-ranked companies take flexibility a step further.
ESC also launched an initiative called MePD, whereby teachers were empowered to schedule time every week when they could block out part of their day to be completely offline. The initiative was implemented during Melbourne’s sixth lockdown, where leaders observed staff beginning to languish, despite the increased flexibility.
Australasia’s best workplaces thought outside of the flexibility box by bringing more empathy to employees’ varying experiences. Future Super introduced paid menstrual and menopausal leave to ensure women feel comfortable for something completely normal that happens on a regular basis. Staff who are unable to work comfortably when experiencing symptoms of periods or menopause can take an additional six paid leave days per year.
Prior to First 365 Days, engagement levels for new starters was 8% below that of the broader company. Following its introduction, engagement from new starters is now at 100%. P@K encourages two-way conversations between managers and their staff. All people are trained in giving and receiving feedback to ensure the two-way flow — both upwards and downwards.
