Minns government says it has brought to an end to user fee charges for Sydney’s world-famous fireworks’ display.
Key harbourside vantage points will be open free to the public on New Year’s Eve, as the Minns Government moves to abolish the user pays system around the world-famous fireworks display.
The government will open the sites to the public and compensate organisations that had previously relied on fireworks’ revenues in the NSW Budget, a figure expected to be about $5 million.had been among those who had criticised cordoning off prime viewing locations on the foreshore and charging for access.
“Over the last decade you’d increasingly be paying for the privilege and the costs were rising, so we are really taking it back to what it once was, a community event free for everyone, regardless of how much you can pay. And that’s especially important given the cost of living.” On New Year’s Eve, other venues within Sydney Harbour managed by the NSW National Parks will also be free but ticketed.
