With Sydney FC's fans in open revolt against the club on February 8, 2014, the most frustrating aspect for chairman Scott Barlow wasn't that their active supporter group walked out en masse midway through the game. It wasn't that they called for the head of the coach and chief executive, or even that they had unveiled a banner pleading with Barlow's father in law, Sydney FC owner David Traktovenko, to remove him as chairman.
He turned Del Piero's private room at the club house into a gym, had a dining room built to create a team environment, had the walls painted light blue with images of club icons and accomplishments mounted all over them. "His personality is the perfect fit for us and our dressing room," Arnold said of Brosque at his unveiling in 2014., making the former fan favourite captain wasn't done simply to appease members. Cool in front of the camera, jovial in the dressing room, but fiery in training sessions and games, Brosque embodied the club's desired personality. His leadership propelled Sydney FC to a runners-up medal in his first season back at the club.
