A frozen falafel product has been tied to an outbreak of E. coli in 20 people across six states, according to an FDA alert.

The products were sold in Aldi stores in 37 states and the District of Columbia and were shipped to stores after June 24, 2021. The product comes in a bag in a box and could have a variety of lot numbers . The lot number can be found in the “Best if used by” area on the outside flap of the box. The products were removed from stores on Oct. 6, and there has been no further production of the products, the recall says.
The CDC advised consumers, restaurants, and retailers not to eat, sell, or serve the recalled products. The FDA said the frozen falafel has an 18-month shelf life and advised consumers to check their freezers for the products. Consumers who have purchased the products should return them to the store for a full refund, the recall says.
