Former treasurer Josh Frydenberg has broken his silence and lashed out at Scott Morrison for secretly taking on five portfolios, including his own, at the height of the pandemic - but it was the ex prime minister's response that left him stunned.
The former prime minister secretly appointed himself into five ministerial positions - treasury, health, finance, home affairs and industry, science, energy and resources - from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 to May 2021.

Picture: Asanka Ratnayake/Getty Images Mr Morrison attempted to reach out to the ex treasurer in August but he initially ignored the calls as he could"not trust himself" to speak with the Liberal minister.
"We faced a once-in-a-century pandemic, an evolving crisis, laden with uncertainty as to what each day would bring. This meant we had to take and live with decisions on both the health and economic front that in normal times would never have been contemplated. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese launched an independent inquiry into the scandal in August to ensure it did not happen again.
