The AFP said he was accused of one count of conspiracy to import a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug — methamphetamine — and one count of trafficking commercial quantities of a controlled drug.Both drug offences carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.Last year Mr Chamas was granted bail and required to reside at the Connect Global drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre at Swan Bay, north of Newcastle.

"Staff of the centre had advised that bail conditions purportedly produced by the Supreme Court had been received by the centre," he said in a statement. "The rehabilitation centre continues to cooperate with the AFP in connection with any investigations that may be of assistance in the matter."
