More lockdowns could be on the cards for Victoria as the state records 191 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
The caseload dwarfed yesterday's record of 127 new cases, to become the single highest day of new cases recorded by the state since the pandemic began. More lockdowns are expected to be announced when Premier Daniel Andrews addresses the media this afternoon. The Premier threatened to lockdown the entire state if Victorians were seen to flout restrictions.
“You don’t have to live in a hot spot postcode to follow the rules, and if people don’t follow the rules then you will be living in a hotspot postcode because I will have no choice but to shut down more and more parts of our city and potentially our state,” he said. Two men died from the virus in Victoria on Monday, taking the state's death toll to 22 and the nation's toll to 106.
