The sister of a prominent Melbourne gangland figure has vowed revenge after he was fatally shot in a northeast Melbourne street. Sam 'The Punisher' Abdulrahim, 34, was gunned down in a car park outside the Quest Hotel in High Street, Preston, about 10am on Tuesday. Abdulrahim, a former Mongol bikie, had survived two previous assassination attempts and reports had surfaced suggesting a $1 million contract was on his life.
Hours after his death, Abdulrahim's sister, Ektimal, took to social media with a chilling message for his killer: 'Whoever shot my brother to death, I'm after you, motherf...er. I know it's you, dog. Never ends here.' Abdulrahim was a professional boxer who earned the nickname 'The Punisher' in the ring. He had gone into hiding in May 2024 after narrowly escaping death when he was shot 17 times in the chest outside his Thomastown home. In 2022, he miraculously survived another attempt on his life when he was shot multiple times in the chest while leaving his cousin's funeral at Fawkner cemetery. Media reports had previously mentioned a million-dollar contract on his life.In May 2024, Abdulrahim was lured out of his home by an attack on his parents. Their cars were doused in fuel and set alight in Brunswick. As Abdulrahim rushed out of his Thomastown home to help, 17 bullets were fired in his direction. Though he survived the attack, three months later, his home was targeted in an arson attack. Abdulrahim was not present at the time.In October 2024, a Brunswick gym linked to Abdulrahim was targeted by arsonists twice. Police remain at the Preston scene, which has been cordoned off. The Public Order Response Team and the Critical Incident Response Team have been deployed. Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is urged to contact police
