Australian Industry Group Chief Executive Innes Willox says there are “huge consequences” for government budgets if price caps are implemented, but there is “no option” to not do anything.
“The least worst option, really, is supply, but that’s not going to happen immediately,” Mr Willox
told Sky News Australia.“At the moment we’re paying astronomical prices that are just going to get worse.”

The Royal Melbourne Hospital has announced it may need to defer elective surgeries due to staff shortages coupled with the need to perform urgent surgeries. This comes after two other Victorian hospitals have paused elective surgeries. “The hospitals in many, many months were full of people who were affected by COVID, that its more difficult to get an appointment with a specialist to get yourself on an elective operating list,” Mr Robson told Sky news Australia. “And of course capacity constraints have been further made more difficult by the fact that many staff in hospitals have COVID and haven’t been able to work.”
