The Age has appointed Gay Alcorn as the masthead's first female editor in its 165-year history
Alcorn, who is currently Melbourne editor at, will replace acting editor Michelle Griffin who has been standing in since the departure of Alex Lavelle in June.The appointment marks a return to the masthead for Alcorn, who spent 20 years inThe Sunday AgeJames Chessell, group executive editor of Australian Metro Publishing, said Alcorn has a strong sense of what is important to Victorians.
Alcorn said she was determined to continue to lead the masthead of choice for Victorians, particularly through the coronavirus pandemic., as it has been throughout its more than 165-year history, is part of our community.
