Michael Turner, a celebrated Geelong footballer and talent manager, passed away at 70 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He is remembered for his impactful playing career and his dedication to developing young talent.

Geelong great Michael Turner has died after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer . Turner, who played 245 games for the Cats between 1974 and 1988, passed away at Lorne Community Hospital on Monday, just weeks after turning 70. Playing predominantly on a wing and across half-forward, Turner kicked 285 goals and was the club captain for the three years.

While Turner enjoyed a standout career as a player that earned him selection in Geelong’s official Team of the Century, he also made a name for himself as a player development manager at Geelong Falcons. Barwon Heads Football Club also paid tribute to the “true legend”. “Beyond his notable success at the highest level with Geelong Football Club and his significant influence at the Geelong Falcons, Mick was a cornerstone of our community,” the club said in its statement. “He served in various roles including vice president, committeeman, chairman of selectors, recruiter, and many others. “His dedication was evident when he even donned the boots for a senior game in 199
