... [+]Rebuilds are never easy, but for German national team head coach Joachim Löw the rebuild of Germany’s national team has gone nowhere to end the waves of criticism against him. At the center of criticism? Recent results, his decision to the integration of young players like Leroy Sané and Kai Havertz as well as the goalkeeper debate.
Following Germany’s defeat to the Netherlands, however, Löw opted to start Neuer for a second straight game. As a result, ter Stegen would later speak about his disappointment to the press. Always verbal the Bayern President felt that Bayern players were not supported enough in recent months by the national team coach, citing, in particular, the axing of Hummels, Boateng, and Müller in March.

At 188cm Havertz combines the technical abilities off playmakers like Mesut Özil with the physical presence of midfielders like Michael Ballack and Stefan Effenberg. A combination of skills that are rare to find in world football, let alone among German footballers. Not enough given the talent that Havertz could provide for Germany. Even opposition coaches have voiced their surprise that Havertz has not featured more often.
