Tradies repairing water damage at a Melbourne primary school have stumbled across a historic discovery

An eastern suburbs primary school celebrating its 150th anniversary has been reminded of its rich history after potentially century-old hidden murals were discovered by tradespeople.

Peter deWacht, principal of Kew Primary School, will task students with exploring the history of the unearthed murals.Intrigued, school principal Peter deWacht decided to peel back another layer, unearthing a nine-metre-wide blackboard adorned with vivid chalk drawings."We thought 'This looks amazing' ... this was a gift from the past."
