A Glasgow man was left paralysed following a freak fall outside Glasgow Central Station. Stuart Gillan, a sound engineer, fell while stepping off a kerb and is now unable to move anything from the neck down.
A Glasgow man was left paralysed following a freak fall outside Glasgow Central Station in what he describes as a 'sliding door' moment. Stuart Gillan was making his way home to Cambuslang on September 10, 2019, from a business trip in Germany when he made the life-changing decision to head for a pint at Brauhaus on Bothwell Street to miss the bustle of rush hour.
The 59-year-old sound engineer, who had made the trip hundreds of times previously, went to step off the double height kerb when he felt himself falling through the air. Stuart just had time to process what was happening when he crashed to the tarmac and was left dazed, passing in and out of consciousness as he was unable to move and lying in the busy road.
