Any general will attest, every good battle plan requires a strategy, good cover and sufficient ammunition. Jim Chalmers can thank the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for the last two as he moves to take on the large gas producers.
That ammunition has been around for several years, the ACCC just gave the government the excuse to load it. The LNG producers say there is more than enough gas to supply the shortfall identified in the ACCC’s Monday report - effectively disputing there is a crisis looming. The ACCC’s report is clearly suggesting the behaviour of some gas companies amounts to not playing cricket.
