They have banked almost $3 million to sell wearable devices globally that can warn police about medical conditions and reduce the risk of wearers being shot.

An Australian couple have banked almost $3 million to roll out wearable devices they developed to allow disabled and vulnerable people to share data with first responders across the United States.

From their home on the Gold Coast, the couple formed a plan to launch the Global Voluntary Disclosure Project a technology platform that gives first responders access to information about vulnerable or disabled people to decrease the risk of them being injured or shot. Through the app, an individual or a legal guardian can create a profile for their loved one or for themselves that discloses any information that they would like a first responder to know in an emergency or when they are unable to communicate.

The product range includes bluetooth beacons as well as smartwatches that allow for GPS tracking and video calling.GVDP has raised $2.9 million, led by Queensland not-for-profit the Busy Group and has engaged Clinton Capital Partners to raise a $10 million series A round next year. The technology is being trialled by Queensland Police and the Plano police department in Dallas, Texas.
