WARNING: Confronting images A Gold Coast woman who suffered a gruesome head injury in a surfing accident has called for “acknowledgement” of her ordeal from another boardrider involved in the incident. Berengere Séverine Carletti, a surfer of 25 years’ experience, was in the water at Currumbin Alley last Thursday morning when it is believed the male surfer crashed onto her head. Carletti suffered a large, open wound towards the back of the top of her head. She told 7 NEWS .com.

However Carletti has been left shaken by the surfer’s alleged failure to help her. She said he asked if she was OK, to which she replied she wasn’t, but the man paddled back towards the waves instead of helping her. Carletti “didn’t get good look” at the man because she was “focused on putting pressure on the wound”. She and her husband Cary Gilbert are trying to find the man, with the latter posting photos of her injuries in multiple posts on local Facebook community pages as part of an appeal.
