The ABC doesn’t want to tell you an ‘inconvenient truth’ about TavistockThe ABC’s failure to cover the closure of Britain’s Tavistock serves as another example of the national broadcaster not wanting to tell Australians an “inconvenient truth,” Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton says. Media Watch host Paul Barry pointed out the ABC had no trace of the story and, when asked why, the national broadcaster said its focus was “what is happening in Australia”. “Australian practices differ significantly to those that were in Tavistock. The change in Britain’s model could certainly form part of future coverage, where it’s relevant,” the ABC said. Mr Houghton said there was still no evidence of an article on the ABC several days later. “ABC ethos holds that gender affirmation is an immutable truth,” he said. “When you have children as young as 10 being pushed into taking puberty blockers who grow up to regret that life-altering treatment, you have a problem. “That problem is made far worse by journalists who don't have the courage to ask questions.”
