Energy Minister Angus Taylor says ensuring there is a reliable supply of liquid fuels for consumers and creating jobs in Australia were two focal points of the federal government’s $211 million boost to onshore fuel storage. On Monday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Mr Taylor announced a plan which will see a 780 megalitre increase to the nation’s fuel storage capacity.
“It’s a package which is very focused on making sure consumers get what they want on liquid fuels ... that’s petrol’s, diesel, as well as aviation gas used by aeroplanes, making sure we put downward pressure on prices and avoid price spikes, and there’s reliable supply,” Mr Taylor told Sky News host Peter Gleeson.
