Australia possesses exceptional talent in fields like quantum technology and the government wants to make sure they are not “sucked up” by overseas firms, Industry and Science Minister Ed Husic says.
“The government wants to make sure that we build sovereign capability in emerging technology like quantum that is going to have a huge impact on the performance of our economy longer term,” Mr Husic told Sky News Australia.
“I don’t want to see any of the IP that’s developed in collaboration with overseas firms, being sucked up overseas and we lose the talent.”
