The Australian Capital Territory government has changed the wording of a serious sexual abuse crime after the advocacy of former Australian of the Year Grace Tame. 9News
Previously, the crime was described as a "sexual relationship with child or young person under special care".
"Language is powerful, and I hope this will help validate for victim-survivors that all 'relationships' of this kind are in fact abuse," he wrote on Twitter.READ MORE: Only three jurisdictions in Australia still describe the crime with the word "relationship" - Queensland, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
