Firefighters battling the massive Grampians National Park bushfire are in for some relief with milder conditions forecast this weekend, but there has tragically been losses reported. At least one home has been destroyed, six sheds and other properties damaged as firefighters continue to try to get on top of the Grampians National Park bushfire.

Despite a rough few days after Christmas with scorching temperatures and strong winds fanning flames, the bushfire threat was downgraded on Friday to watch and act. Areas under the alert and told to monitor conditions are Bellfield, Flat Rock Crossing, Halls Gap, Grampians, Mirranatwa, Victoria Valley, Moyston to Dunkeld and Willaura.Meanwhile, residents who evacuated from Halls Gap and Pomonal can return to their homes at the direction of traffic management once proof of address is shown.Tragically one family has lost their home in Moyston.Forest Fire Management Victoria Chief Fire Officer Chris Hardman told Sunrise there could be more damage to report once burnt out areas are assessed. 'There's a number of outbuildings that have been impacted and there have been significant agricultural losses as well,' he said on Saturday morning. 'We've got impact assessors working out exactly what those losses have included... the outbuildings could be a farmers' machinery shed with $2 million worth of gear in it.'About 600 firefighters - some who were flown in from interstate - remain on the frontline and have missed Christmas to fight the fire and protect properties. The size of the blaze is the biggest issue for firefighters who will take advantage of the cooler temperatures to backburn in hopes of further slowing it dow
