Follow our live coverage of Gregory Lynn’s pre-sentence hearing in courtroom four of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Gregory Lynn has arrived at court, entering the courtroom with a prison guard on either side. Sitting in the dock, he speaks to his legal team — Dermot Dann KC and Mick McGrath.
During the trial, Lynn also admitted destroying Hill and Carol Clay’s campsite deep in the Wonnangatta Valley and disposing of their bodies, but claimed he did so in a panic because he knew he would be blamed for their deaths and needed to protect his family, lifestyle and career. He denied murdering anyone in the Wonnangatta Valley, about five hours’ drive north-east of Melbourne, in March 2020, claiming both had died by accident.
Sitting in the public gallery are friends and family of Carol Clay and Russell Hill, including Clay’s two daughters, and Hill’s wife and children.
