Kole Calhoun delivered big hits in two extra-inning games on Cleveland's 4-2 road trip to Toronto and Minnesota.
Calhoun, gesturing to his teammates in the Guardians clubhouse, said he was not concerned about sending messages across the diamond to the team that Cleveland is trying to chase down.
But Calhoun has not only provided leadership in the clubhouse, he’s also provided productivity at the plate. In just 20 games, the 35-year-old is batting .273 with an .811 OPS and 15 RBI over 87 plate appearances. He reached base five times in the series against Minnesota and drove in four runs. “I mean this is two games now on this road trip where we’re in extra innings and we’re about ready to strand runners and not score,” Francona said. “And it turns into a win because of two of his swings.”
