Greater Western Sydney star Tom Green has teed off at the AFL’s “Victorian bias” in a resurfaced podcast clip.
A Giants Academy graduate, Green was bid on by Carlton with pick No. 10 in the 2019 draft before the Giants matched the bid to secure the midfielder.
“That’s where most of the footballing infrastructure has been in terms of AusKick programs, school programs, all this sort of stuff. Then people get picked up every year playing school footy for Victoria. A bid for Green at pick No. 10 in hindsight seems a bargain for the Giants given the 22-year-old’s output in his four seasons so far.
