Gwyneth Paltrow will face court over claims she slammed into a retiree at an upmarket ski resort, causing him a brain injury and four broken ribs

Gwyneth Paltrow will testify over claims she skied out of control and left a man with brain injuries which she denies is expected to testify in court on Tuesday in a trial where she has been accused of skiing out of control and injuring a retired man on the slopes of a high-end resort in 2016.

Mr Sanderson is suing Ms Paltrow for $300,000 claiming that the accident left him with physical injuries and emotional distress and was a result of negligence. The original claim also said a Deer Valley ski instructor with Ms Paltrow saw Mr Sanderson lying there but made no attempt to help, however that line of argument was later struck out by a judge.

The case is set to examine who was further down the beginner’s run when the crash occurred, as downhill skiers have right of way over those coming down the mountain from above them.Mr Sanderson initially filed a suit seeking $3.1m in damages before amending his complaint. Ms Paltrow filed a counterclaim seeking $1 in damages, countering that the retiree is overstating his injuries and trying to exploit her status and wealth.
