Healthcare clinic patients have received emails that carry the templates of their medical provider, asking them to click on a link to claim a fake prize.
Medical software provider Power Diary had its email system compromised with hackers able to send emails that carried the templates of healthcare providers.A regional Victorian medical software company is investigating after hackers gained access to its email-sending system and sent spam emails to customers of its healthcare clients.
It said the spam emails used "system-generated ID numbers" and referenced non-fungible tokens and cryptocurrencies. The company said the unauthorised party was able to trigger the sending of emails and automatically include personal details like names, which made the emails appear more legitimate.Power Diary said the hacker did not have access to personal client information, nor was its overall system compromised.
