One of the first programs released on Apple TV+, this unconventional historical drama walks a fine line between comedy and drama - and mostly gets it right.
and you have some idea what to expect with this unconventional take on the historical biopic. It's beautifully dressed and costumed, well-researched, faithful to the source, but it's also modernised, rich with slanguage, and leavened with music from your teenager daughter's playlist.
Earnest though Emily is, she's also up for it. When her father and mother go away for a night, she convinces her sister Lavinia and brother Austin to join her in throwing a house party, complete with liquid opium, lollipops and lascivious dancing. The only thing missing is the Facebook invitation.
Enter would-be suitor George with the immortal line, "Let's get this party commenced." Sorry George, it's never gonna happen.
