For many, Christmas is about spending time with friends and family, gifting presents and spreading festive cheer.

Emmaus Preston is a homeless charity that provides a home and work to people who have found themselves homeless or socially excluded. Anyone who becomes part of the Emmaus community is called a 'companion' and has their own role within the centre. One of these is Rock, a Responsible Companion, who is responsible for some of the other residents.
Not only is Christmastime difficult for homeless people who may not have family or friends to celebrate with, but it's also difficult for them having to sleep rough whilst temperatures plummet. In particular, this December has seen the country experience a rather unprecedented cold snap, with conditions below zero for several days.
For the Emmaus companions, Christmas this year will be a similar situation. On December 23, staff cooked Christmas dinner for the residents, giving them all a chance to celebrate together.
