Puopolo booted two of Hawthorn's seven first-term goals in the 17.6 to 8.9 victory, which meant the Hawks finished with a 5-12 win-loss record for the season. In what was a dead rubber between two non-finalists, the Hawks exploded from the blocks in the opening quarter to lead 7.1 to 1.1 at the first change.
